Fragrance Review: Maison Francis Kurkdjian

Last Fall, I purchased some fragrance samples from the La Maison Francis Kurkdijan (MFK), one of the world's most celebrated perfumers. He has created numerous fragrances for top notch designers and has decided to create his own, with a cute boutique in Paris. Ever since the launch of his latest creation Le Parfum for Elie Saab (see my post here), I've been wanting to try his signature scents and was happy to see that there is a sampling option.

My favorite: Aqua UniversalisA Water for all uses, for everything and everyone, a perfume that crosses between skin and fabric, between sheets and air.An exquisite scent of freshness for both men and women. Notes:  Bergamote and Sicilian lemon - White Bouquet (lily of the valley and sweet mock orange), light and musky wood. Retails US$155 - $265 at Luckyscent.com or EU$95-$155 at MFK.

APOM (A Part Of Me) - a bit of oneself that one leaves on others. A relationship from the beauty of the Orient: movement of people, flavors, colors and scents rediscovered from Lebanon. A combination of softness and strength. Notes: Orange flower, cedar wood and ylang-ylang flower. Retails for US$165 at Luckyscent.com or EU$105 at MFK. Second favorite scent of the four.

Absolue Pour le Soir- when the night takes on its own life, the tempo changes. Take a long, languorous breath. LInger till dawn, keep you head in the stars. You're suspended in time with this sophisticated and concentrated Eau de Parfum. Notes: Benzoin (Syam), rose honey, incense absolute, yang ylang, cumin, atlas cedar and sandalwood. Retails for US$185 at Luckyscent.com or EU$115 at MFK. Definitely an evening fragrance it is very spicy.

Lumiere Noire pour Femme - A gamme of opposite for two accords, like two extremes coming together. A mysterious Eau de Parfum that attracts until it provokes self - abandon. Notes: Spiced rose (cumin, hot pepper), patchouli, narcissus. Retails US$165 at Luckyscent.com or EU$105 at MFK

Unfortunately one broke but I think that was due to customs and not MFK. But it was the best smelling package I ever got through the mail.

You can order four generous samples for EU$12 which includes free shipping and they come in really classy packaging. I would encourage everyone to give these scents a try, they are worth it.
